Railway App (Pat project)
We are designing this app to provide a more efficient and user-friendly way for both locals and foreigners to use the Sri Lankan railway system. By addressing the language barrier and lack of information, we hope to encourage more tourists to travel by train, supporting Sri Lanka's tourism industry. Additionally, the app will help locals to book train tickets easily and reduce the load on call centers and other third-party services. By providing a comprehensive and effective app for both locals and foreigners, we hope to make train travel more accessible and convenient for everyone.

-
The Sri Lankan railway system lacks a comprehensive and user-friendly mobile app.
-
Locals face the challenge of not having a proper mobile app to book train tickets.
-
The availability of trains cannot be checked on the official website.
-
For foreigners, the language barrier and lack of information make it difficult to navigate the train system.
-
The current ticket booking process can be time-consuming and tedious.
-
The information available on the official website is often outdated or inaccurate.
-
There is a lack of real-time updates on train schedules and delays.
-
The current system does not allow for easy cancellations or changes to tickets.
-
The system does not support electronic payments, which can be inconvenient for users.
-
There is a need for better customer service and support for users who face issues with the current system.
User Research.
User research for Sri Lankan railway app gathers needs and expectations for a user-friendly app. Interviews provide insights on pain points and requirements, aiming to develop an app with real-time updates, electronic payments, and improved customer service for locals and foreigners.

Persona.
A user persona is a fictional representation of a typical user group's goals, behaviors, and characteristics. It helps in identifying user needs and challenges and guides product development to improve user experience by addressing pain points. Persona creation involves user research to understand common frustrations and issues faced by users.

User Journey Map
A user journey map is a visual representation of the customer experience. It helps to get the user’s point of view and It is one of the key parts of user experience design. Understanding the customer’s journey, their feelings, motivations, and experiences could help me to do a user-centric design. This user journey map is based on Imam persona.

Paper Wireframe
A Paper wireframe is a sketch or drawing that represents the skeleton of an app interface. Here I translated my ideas into a sheet of paper to represent how the app would appear in the end. Below, You can see railway project wireframe.

Lo-fi prototype
Low-fidelity (lo-fi) prototyping is a quick and easy way to translate high-level design concepts into tangible and testable artifacts. I have created this based on the paper wireframe. Screens are connected to each other and prototypes can be simulated by a real human. Click Here

Hi-fi prototype
High-fidelity (hi-fi) prototype is highly functional and interactive. It is very close to the final product, with most of the necessary design assets and components developed and integrated. It helps to test usability and identify issues in the workflow before starting the development. Click here to view the Hi-Fi prototype.
